from you i learned
that building a life
requires the complete
gamut of resources.
fior de latte on the
confetti terrazzo—
and you look beautiful
in those umbro shorts.


morning and evening
i fuss the life out of it.
adidas twinset
khaki gold ballpoint
french tuck
kate please
don’t dedicate so much
energy into deliberating
over the plainest outfit
of all time. briny,
or, swimming without
getting wet, a volume
of christina rossetti poems
i have not read. limp suede,
no, she wasn’t banging
anyone, either, if that’s
what you’re asking. sun
burnt legs, olive linoleum
not me: i am not a scuffable

Kate Schneider is working on a PhD on postwar architecture and experimental writing at Cambridge. Her poetry has appeared in Ambit, Hotdog and at the White Review-x-Burley Fisher Books poetry salon.
